Ceramics as a Material
Ceramics are all objects made of clay and mixtures with mineral additives. Items made of it are used in households as cooking and eating utensils and decorations.

The production of ceramic objects is one of the first crafts mastered by humans.
Working with ceramics is an ancient craft that is a part of modern industry today. Ceramic items are an integral part of our daily lives. Ceramic products find wide application in our daily lives and industrial settings.

Clay is the primary material for making ceramic items. It is an inorganic plastic material that contains silicon dioxide, dialuminum trioxide, and water.
1. Majolica
Majolica is a type of clay used in making decorative ceramic items. It is covered with tin glaze before being fired at 900-1000 degrees. After being decorated, it is fired at a temperature of 600-700 degrees.
2. Porcelain
Porcelain is a non-porous ceramic material, impervious to water and gas. It is first fired at lower temperatures – 920-950 degrees. After that, it is fired at higher temperatures – around 1400 degrees. It was first developed in 7th-century China.

It is used to make necklaces, earrings, bracelets, hair clips and more. Besides being the main elements in jewelry making, ceramics are also used to make beads and spacers in different shapes and sizes.
Many jewelers prefer to work with ceramics because, after firing, it becomes extremely durable. It is easy to work with, can be colored in different shades, and the colors do not fade, retaining their brightness and intensity.

Pottery is a process of creating vessels with clay– vases, pots, bowls, cups, etc. It is one of the oldest crafts practiced around the world.
Clay is really useful for making food storage and cooking vessels. Clay is a natural material. It is a type of mud or soil that does not contain harmful elements and organisms.
People used to store food and wine in clay vessels. They cooked in them because ceramics allow heating to high temperatures without releasing harmful particles. Ceramics heat up slowly, allowing the ingredients in the vessel to release their aromas during cooking and retain heat for a long time.
4. For Making Carnival Masks
Ceramics are also used by some cultures to make unique carnival masks.
5. Making Souvenirs
The material is also popular in souvenir production. When mixed with water, clay becomes soft like plasticine. That is why it’s suitable for making all kinds of souvenirs.
Ceramics allow for extended processing, even after hardening. You can change the shape of the item, add additional elements, change the shape and texture, and paint it in different colors.
After being fired, ceramic figurines become hard and durable. The colors are vivid and fade-resistant.
6. For Making Figures for Coloring
